Monday 11th May update;
We’re continuing to meet our target of dispatching 95% of in-stock orders within 24hrs, faster than many other online retailers at this time.
We’re using Hermes and Hermes Next Day as our core UK delivery options, due to the highest reliability recently.
Unfortunately, Royal Mail continue to deliver 1st Class mail in 2-5 days, compared to the usual next day expectation, so we won’t be using them for the moment.
17th April update;
Due to continued Royal Mail failures to deliver RM24 the next day (mostly taking 2-3 days), we’ve decided to replace this option with RM Tracked24, which we expect to have a higher % chance of next day delivery.
19th April: We’ve now replaced Royal Mail 24 with Hermes Next Day, which is so far delivering on the next day promise.
Summary (as of 15th April);
- Our warehouse is dispatching orders, though please allow an extra day for dispatch (due to high order volumes)
- Royal Mail are experiencing delays;
- Royal Mail 48/2nd Class taking up to a week for delivery.
- Royal Mail 24 (usually next day) is now taking 1-3 days for delivery.

GeekSwag Warehouse updates:
We’re fully up and running, trying to keep as normal a service as possible during these very unpredictable times.
The amount of orders we’re currently receiving (particularly for board games) is the same, if not higher than we see around our Christmas peak.
As a result, we’re working overtime to keep dispatch time as quick as possible, though there have been delays recently.
As of 9th April, we’ve cleared the backlog of backorders we had placed for Pandemic and Catan board games, and our dispatch times are now back to 1-2 days.
We’re constantly receiving stock replenishments from our distributors and suppliers, working hard to keep our full range of products in stock.
Our delivery partners have been experiencing delays, compounded by an increase in volume of parcels due to more people at home.
We use Hermes for our regular 2 day delivery option. If we send on a Monday morning, we usually see 95% of orders delivered on Wednesday (2 days later).
As a result of the Coronavirus, we’re occasionally seeing deliveries take 1-2 days more than we’d expect. However, the delays don’t seem to be as severe or common than with Royal Mail.
Despite not publically stating so, Royal Mail volumes are at record levels, with Mail Centres and the distribution network struggling. Here’s comments from a mail centre employee recently;
We’re aware that around 1 in 5 Royal Mail staff are currently off work / self-isolating. As a result, there are delays.
We recently upgraded all orders dispatched on a certain day to Royal Mail 24, to see how many would be delivered the next day. While we usually see 95% delivered the next day, at the moment we’re only seeing them.
With Royal Mail 48, we recently had an order delivered 6 days after posting, compared to the 2 days we’d usually expect. So the situation is very unpredictable.
