About Pandemic
The Pandemic board game has been described by many game enthusiasts, including the very influential Board Game Geek website, as one of the best board games ever created. Since the first edition was released by Matt Leacock in 2008, this game and its many expansions and subsequent spin-offs have only kept rising in popularity and advancement.
In the simplest terms, this is a cooperative board game that will have you and your friends (as 2-4 players can play it) having so much fun. It encourages the players to work together, strategically, to take on a massive challenge of preventing the outbreak of 4 deadly diseases and find a cure for all the diseases before things get out of hand.
The game usually consists of a game board that represents the world map. This map contains the most populated cities properly connected through some intricate network. The game also comprises of 2 decks of cards. One pack is known as the Player cards, while the other deck is called the Infection cards. There are also four sets of cubes in different colours with a collection containing 24 cubes each. The colours match the various diseases so that each one has a set of cubes (24 cubes). The other components of Pandemic are 6 Research Stations, 6 Wooden Makers, as well as a pawn for each of the seven roles required in the game.
Pandemic board game begins right after the players randomly draw out Infection cards to spread the infections across the board. The world is facing an outbreak at this point, and it is the job of you and your friends to prevent the four diseases from consuming the world. The game starts from the city of Atlanta. You and your friends will, from that point, work carefully together to identify ways of stopping the diseases from spreading, taking notes of where an outbreak may likely hit next while trying to find a cure, all at the same time.
When it gets to your turn, you may first take one of many actions, including moving between the different cities, fighting to contain the disease, building the necessary research centres, and discovering a cure whenever you discard 5 Infection cards. Once you have taken action, you would have to draw two cards and hope that none of them is an Epidemic card. Drawing an Epidemic card means a faster spread of the diseases.
Things get even more exciting and tense as the game progresses. The disease spreads faster with every move, and the likelihood of an epidemic occurring becomes even more significant.
There is just one way to win the Pandemic board game; find all cures to the four diseases and do it fast before the game runs out.
To ensure victory, you and your friends must, therefore, ensure to work and reason as one as coordination is of the most important. You also have to make sure you all pick roles that align correctly with whatever strategy you have chosen for your gameplay.
As a team game, anyone from the ages of 8 and above can enjoy the Pandemic board game. This game is just as easy to learn as it is interesting to play, and there are several videos you can watch to learn how to play it quickly.
